Three in a row. A step ahead.

Take turns placing X and O on a three-by-three board. Complete a straight or diagonal line of three to win, or defend every threat to force a draw. Play a computer opponent at different difficulty levels or share the device with a friend. The hardest opponent rewards sound strategy: a well-played draw is a useful result. Control the center, block immediate wins, and look for a fork that creates two threats.
